Welcome To Fort Lee , Virginia!
Whether your visit is temporary or long-term, we hope you’ll enjoy all of the things Fort Lee and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Fort Lee is situated alongside the Tri-Cities of Virginia – Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Hopewell – as well as the counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie and Prince George. Families here enjoy recreating along the Appomattox River. The area is home to much military history and reflects the region’s role in the American Civil War. A major logistics base for the Union Army was located at City Point and the railroad that enabled the siege of Petersburg is still in operation today. The history of the Battle of the Crater can be viewed in Petersburg National Battlefield Park and is also commemorated nearby at the Fort Lee entry “Mahone Gate” gate which is named after Brigadier General William Mahone. Fort Lee itself is named after Confederate Civil War hero Robert E. Lee.
In the area, we benefit from being located in the greater Richmond Region. Access to thriving arts scene, as well as many gourmet restaurants and boutique, are all only a short drive away. A day trip will even bring you to our countries capitol (DC ), or to soak in sunshine along Virginia’s eastern shore.
